$100 Million Mixed Use Project Approved Within Blocks Of Marietta Square
December 15th, 2005 . by Knox BardeenMarietta’s largest ever redevelopment project finally got approval last night from the Marietta Housing Authority, but not without a lot of arguments and a hint of a future re-vote.
The project if the former Clay Homes Housing Project which used to sit on 12 acres between Roswell and South Marietta Parkway and between Alexander and Waddell, but is now mostly demolished. What’s going up in its place? A new $100 million mixed use development featuring 140+ townhomes, 170+ condos and 90,000 square feet of retail space. This will be an exciting project as it’s only a few blocks from Marietta Square.
The council, last night, voted unanimously to sell the old Clay Home property to the developer but one council member promised to use a parliamentary procedure to bring the vote back before the council at a later date. When more news is available I’ll post it here. Check out a few other links I found earlier today.
